Immigrant Investor Visa program - Eb5 program

Eb5 program or the Immigrant Investor Visa program was introduced in 1990 as part of the Immigration Act. The idea was to revive the sluggish US economy and create more job opportunities for the local Americans. About 10 thousand of these Eb5 program visas are available every year and about 3 thousand of these are designated into government certified Regional Centers.

Under the Eb5 program or the fifth employment based visa preference category, was made by the Congress, so as to encourage foreign investors seeking permanent residency in US by making healthy investments. There are two ways of utilizing these investments, either starting a new commercial enterprise in a low employment area in US or investing in a troubled business. The potential immigrants can offer a new plan on their own or work on a pre-existing business plan. They will need to shoulder the responsibility for full two years and satisfy the condition of the job creation.

The applicant for the Eb5 program can also seek investment with a certified Eb5 Regional Center. These centers have carefully studied business plans well in place and help the investor with the whole process of applying for the Eb5 program. These regional Center investments help in creating for both direct and indirect jobs that can prove to be very advantageous for the applicants.
